I think my operating system may be corrupt. I've already determined there is no problems with the hardware or drives. The guy at Dell wants me to try to repair the operating system by putting in the windows cd that came with the computer. 2 questions: is there a better way to go about doing this so I don't lose all my files and if this doesn't work does anyone have any tips for me so I don't lose all my songs, apps, etc.

You might have overlooked but you posted in the wrong section of the forums :p

The guy is asking how he can reformat without losing his iPhone APPS, and songs.

Basically dude, if you can do it, I'd get a bootable linux disk like knoppix (Google it), burn that ISO, and then back up whatever you can with an external drive and then reformat and put the files back where you found them after.

Hope this helps.

I did mean to post this question in this forum....I guess I should have worded it better. I have to completely wipe my hard drive and reload the operating system, drives, etc. What's going to happen when I dowloaded itunes and hook up my iphone? Will my apps and music transfer from my iphone back into itunes or will everything be gone?
