Hi guys.
The firmware update on my early 2008 Mac Book Pro failed. The system now turns on and plays the SOS beeps. Instead of running the auto repair the system then reboots and plays the beeps again and so on.

I have tried to find firmware recovery disks but none are compatible with this model.

I have no clue what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I will be going to my local Apple repair shop on Monday to get a price and if it’s too much I am considering a logic board swap. If I don’t have to do either fantastic.

I’ll be hoping for responses.

Thanks in Advance.

Unless you can get it repaired cheaply, perhaps it's time to start shopping for a replacement :(

That’s what I was worrying about. If I can’t get it repaired I’ve found a cheap broken screen MBP which I’ll take the logic board from. I’m not saying goodbye to the old girl just yet

These computers had widespread GPU failures. I would not put any more money into one of these at all.

I am fully aware of these issues. I own the Macbook Pro at all because I love the design. I have been running it with a fan control application and it has no signs of graphics failure.

The problem is that now you'd be buying another logic board, which probably won't have been used with a fan utility.
