My grandmother gave me a 120g classic silver ipod ..its got to be maybe a year old ..it was functioning fine, i had updated it with all of my music and everything was peachy. a week later i uploaded a few new cds to my computer and tried synching ..as soon as i tried to synch, i got an error message telling me that my ipod was corrupted and i need to restore. okay, so immediately tried to restore it manually with itunes, but it crashed itunes. Assuming it was an itunes bug - i then plugged in my ipod touch to find that it works perfectly fine with that one. i have tried plugging this ipod up to multiple itunes accounts and it seems to crash all of them. Along with crashing itunes, every time i turn on the ipod it restores it back to the 'pick your language' title screen and reads that my ipod has 119 gb of 'other' ..no music ..no videos ..just 'other'. I dont know what to do, no one I have talked to has ever heard of this ..not even the apple rep i spoke to on the phone. I have called the apple hotline and its just barely out of warranty so there was nothing they could do. The apple rep told me that it is highly unlikely that my ipod has a virus for it's extremely uncommon. I guess if no one has any idea what is going on than my next option will be to pay to have it r manually restored at an apple store or send it in to apple ..both of which i really don't want to do considering it's gonna cost me some money and im a broke college student.

any help would be greatly greatly appreciated ..it's a brand new ipod ..i just got it ..it's awfully irritating lol

thank you anyone that has idea what this is

Having the iPod restored at an Apple store should be free. Just bring your connector cable and attach it to a Mac.

By the way, you're not using a third-party cable, are you? I've had corruption issues because of a crappy cable before.

Do you know anyone else who has a computer you can use to do this restore? Try syncing with their computer and see if it works. If it does, it's something on your computer. (Are you using Windows?)

thanks for the reply..

i think i'm just using the standard ipod cable and yes i'm using windows unfortunately. i'll probably just wait till i get back to dallas and take it to the northpark apple store ..i don't really have any other options at this point.
