I'm in a hotel right now...and my brothers girlfriend decides she wants to be pissy at me and throws my keys at me...and the keys dont hit me...yes...they hit my macbook pro...they put a dent about the size of a dime and gash into the aluminum on the read lcd housing (top of the laptop when closed) as well as a few scuffs adn scratches...I called Apple and i was given a rough estimate of $200 but was told to call my apple store to get a better estimate as well as a timeframe...called the apple store and they told me they could not provide any of that information over the phone and that i would need to schedule an appointment and wait a week to get just an estimate...and go out of my way 45mins to do so...i then call back and speak to a supervisor and am told that it would cost $667 to fix as it is a tier 2 damage...wtf? Anyone have any suggestions???

Four options:

1. Send the bill to your brother's girlfriend.

2. Suck it up and pay for the repair yourself.

3. Some combination of #1 and #2.

4. Live with a cosmetically damaged computer.

Dude. you cant stand for that. You march up to your bothers Girlfriend NOW (or you can call her) and tell HER to pay for it. She just damaged your over $2000 computer and are you gonna put up with her.

Tell me Something when you resond in a post. Did she even fell bad for what she did. OR did she even say sorry.?

She did not appologize...and yes she is paying...I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with apple with this sort of issue...I mean...$667 to replace a piece of aluminum which at most would take an hour of labor is really ridiculous...but it's in "Tier 2" so anything woudl be that much...wheter is just the top housing or every piece of aluminum on the damn computer...i spoke with an apple authorized tech and they said they could do it for $80 parts and $120 labor..seems like that is the best bet...unlesss someone else knows something i dont?

Go for the most expensive option (Apple), especially if she is paying (either directly or indirectly via your brother) for it...

Charge your brother for the repair. ;)

I'm sure he can get the money back in trade from her, unless you want to get directly involved which likely won't get you anything.

She did not say sorry????? What a dumb women... Well at least she is paying for it. And you should be glad it costs sooo much. It a good thing it costs sooo much. It will teach her a lesson...  ... well hopefully;)

Well, I think you need Apple to do the repair because you want the mfr warranty. Then you get her to reimburse you, and if she doesn't, take her to small claims court. Or she could just give you $300 towards your next computer and you live with it the dent. (Not totally fair, but not totally unfair either.)

Or you tell her that you'll forget the whole thing if she goes to an anger management class. :D
