Decided to go ahead and pick up a G4 Mini as I've had awesome performance from the one I bought the wife back in November...She's tired of me using hers! For what I need the machine for it's plenty of computer and I don't really care to be a beta tester for the 1st generation of Intel Macs. ;)

Anyway, my local Costco (Houston,TX - Katy Freeway location) still has 9 (had 10) G4 Mini "packs" available. That's the G4 Mini (Late 2005 Model) ;) w/APX, 512MB, 80Gb & Superdrive. It's bundled in a handy package along with an Apple Wireless Keyboard, Apple Wireless Mouse and a 3 year Applecare. All for $699. Oh, iLife 06 was in the box too. Was suprised by that one.

I think that's a great price considering the Applecare is tossed in.

They also had 6 (I think) 20" iMac G5's (iSight models). All still in sealed boxes. $1479 I believe, and that's INCLUDING Applecare.

One interesting side note...The serial number lookup for this Mini shows it to be from February of 2005, however the guts are most certainly the late 2005 model. (1.5Ghz, 64Mb Vram). Not a refurb, that's for sure. Perhaps a "rebuilt"?

i work for costco. they would not sell you a referb unless it is very very clearly labeled that way.

also when i was looking at the mac minis i could of swore they were the 32 meg vram version.

Great deal! My parents live in Katy... ill send them that way to check it out.
Still love the old PowerPC computers. The software works great... really good value and theres no reason the system wont last for as long as you want. :D

is this the right costco:

Yes, that is the correct Costco.
The good news is that since there are only 2 Costco locations in Houston, it won't be hard for them to find the right location.
Tell them congrats - they're getting a great machine!

The costco-mac thing has been up for awhile now. I think its been like two months since theyve had em up. Its in all of So-Cal costcos as well, so it seems like macs are sold at every costco.

someone brought up that costco only sells the "unpopular"/discountinued things, in terms of computers, tvs, and even clothes. these are basically the things that couldn't sell in other popular vendors, such as compusa, because their TVs are damn cheap. I mean, brands like VIZIO aren't popular with other major vendors but I think it's pretty damn reliable. for a 50inch plasma at 2299, i'm swept away. now if only i could sway my dad that it'll survive past year 3..

and damn, that return policy is unheard of. no receipt necessary?! think of that store in garden state, when Zack braff's friend returns a box of knives for 50 bux. my family returned a laptop (2 weeks used) without any problems.

Wow, that is a great bundle! I'm in DC/NoVa and all Costco's only have the iMacs :-( .... I've yet to see the mini's....

Well no receipt since it is all on your card. Try to return a laptop you didnt buy on your card see if that works.. But the return policy is insane.
6 monthes on computers.

Well they do sell current version of Ipods . For computers i doubt Apple gives them a big enough discount and amount Costco will need on Macbooks pro. I was suprised they didnt have 15" powerbooks.

Costcos in Georgia (well at least 2 in Atlanta) have both the mini and the imac.
I want a intel version so this sux even though it is a great deal. :)
