anyone know if this drive will work well with macs? i've got a 12" powerbook g4 1.5ghz and read some issues about powering it on cnet and amazon.com. seems like there isn't enough power on the cable?

These drives are sata so i dont think they will work

would this work with a macbook?

It most definitely will. I have done this to my 13" 1.83 macbook and it works flawlessly. I will tell you the cache spec is 2mb down from the stock 8mb of cache that your original hdd has. I have not noticed any difference in performance.

I pulled the old hdd out and placed it in the vacant enclosure and I still have a portable drive.

You have to pry the unit apart as it snaps together, the rubber feet on the bottom do not 'hide' screws.

Also, I did not open mine all the way, just enough to slide the drives in and out.

that is 5400rpm tho.... if you are going to open up a MBP, i would go ahead spend a few more dollars and get a bare 7200rpm 200gig drive.

For those of us who need more space, it would be a nice upgrade. Not only do you get increased internal space, you also get an external hard drive.

Shame I can't find any sales on the 320GB version.
