My company laptop is a Windows-based HP. I use two big monitors in the office. Is there a way that I could use my new 12.9 Pro as an additional monitor when I’m away from the office?

Yes, you have several solutions, from free (but poor), to subscription based to dongle based...
Spacedesk: free but in my experience pretty unreliable... still a better than nothing starting point
Duet display: $10 wired one-off, $30 per year subscription wireless
Lunadisplay: $110-130 one off for a usb C / HDMI dongle (wireless)

You can, as the poster above me mentioned, but I wouldn't. If your company laptop has a USB-C port, there are now portable USB-C monitors out there (so that you're not HAVING to use DisplayLink, which also is subpar and needlessly annoying). Asus makes a couple of them. I'd recommend checking them out.

I'm really hating the software as a subscription model that so many developers are doing these days. Something like using a tablet as a secondary display without a wire should not be a subscription FFS.

You can do it for free with Sidecar on a Mac… on a Windows laptop there is no such built in function and I don’t think there is any solution not requiring installation of certain software or driver on the laptop.

I guess I should mention that I cannot download any software onto the corporate device.
Then there is no way to use you iPad as a monitor, these solutions all requires display drivers that can be either x86 or from the Windows Store.

The only thing that works natively (without drivers) is Samsung dual monitor feature on their latest S7 Android tablets.

Other than that a USB C monitor is the only alternative (that's what I mainly use since the iPad is too small for me as a monitor (even a 14in monitor is too small, the minimum for me is 15.6in and the one I use the most is a 17in monitor).

I’ve got a large monitor that I bought for working from home. I guess I’ll just stick with that solution. It’s a shame there’s no simple way to use the iPad screen.
