Could I watch My own recorded Digital Videos on apple TV?

We are maybe?,thinking of getting one of these to watch our photos on our TV.

Could we also watch our own Digital Videos on it too- we have used imovie to edit our videos by hooking up the camera with the fire wire cable.

So can we get our videos into apple TV-it would seem a good way of storing home videos. The people in our local JB HiFi weren't sure if it could do this.

It such a cute looking think but it may be to limited particularly as our techo skills are quite limited. From what I gather you have to be a computer genius to get anything out of this product.

Yes, you can view your own videos.

No you don't have to be a genius to use it. You put things on it the same way as you would put put things on an iPod.

Depends on the resolution but it will probably be from 400 Mb to 600 Mb for a 30 minute home movie in my estimation.

P.S. I love my Apple TVs for looking at family pictures as well as tons of small home movie clips. The kids love it!

That actually sounds quite good.

The trouble with video and digital cameras is that the pictures and videos stay mostly unviewed . This unit could make viewing and indexing them quite easy.

They featured the apple TV on Sunrise this morning and it got a very good review, The Gadget Guy as he is known said it was quite exciting. Sunrise is the no 1 morning TV show here in OZ,

We may get one but I think we would need to geta new LCD or plasma TV as I don't think our current one will work with it.

You will probably want to get one of these to speed up the H264 conversion. Depending on the age of your Mac encoding can take 3-4 times play time.

Apple's website says up to 50 hours on the 40 Gb unit or 200 hours on the 160 Gb unit.

An additional option you have is to stream videos straight from your iTunes computer. This eliminates any size issues (and is as easy as selecting the host computer to be your current source).

Yes, I've had tons of small video clips that I've taken with my digital camera that were just sitting on the computer. Now they are as easy to watch as any TV show.

Apple TV needs to have either a digital connection (DVI or HDMI) or component (three connections, Red Green Blue). If your TV has the latter (even if it isn't HD) you can connect the Apple TV to it. Otherwise yes you will need a new TV.
