Could iPhone one day wireless pull in your library?

Someone just started a thread regarding whether 4/8 gigs is enough, and it got me thinking - what if your iPod could wirelessly pull in/push out your library content. I'm not talking about bluetooth; I'm talking about using the network (whatever that means) to access your library. If it could, the number of gigs would become less relevant. I know anything is possible, but I want to know if you more knowledgable people think it is possible in the practical, realistic sense - perhaps a couple of years down the road. Thanks.

Yes, it could be done know...similar to AppleTV...but there is no need, as you'd likely leave the network before you used the device

Thanks, but I wasn't clear on that point. I'm not talking about streaming. I'm talking about being able to use your iPhone to locate something in your library (home computer) that is not currently loaded on your iPhone, and then load it on your iPhone for later listening/viewing. I can't stand streaming.

The edge network is not fast enough for this. I use orb on my pc and stream all of my content (music, videos and documents) to my blackjack, even with 3g on the blackjack it is not perfect or fast enough for everyday use as an ipod replacement.

havent followed the iphone that much but can this back to my mac thing work with the iphone to locate and retrieve data or media on your home computer?

i realize that the connection obviously plays a huge part there


i assumed the orginal post was about having the iphone on your local network
