I don’t know that in 2016 Apple Silicon was ready at all for their Laptop or Desktop models.
I’m so glad they finally did move to their own silicon when they did. My disdain for Intel has grown, because I realized in 2020 how badly Intel has held the CPU industry back
I remember being so disappointed with my MacBook Pro upgrades from 2014-2017 because they never seemed to have the power I needed to run my Pro-Software Suite for work. Some time around late 2018 early 2019 I debated moving back towards using a Desktop machine or possibly even a high powered Windows Desktop. Despite absolutely not wanting to go back to Windows or a Desktop, I did consider it an option.
I’ve worked my entire professional career on high powdered MacBook Pro‘s, even tried an iMac but ended up switching back to MacBook Pro’s due to the portability and being able to work on-location for work.
I had so much money invested into Mac OSX Software and I enjoyed the Mac OS way more than Windows but worried about whether Apple was taking their creative “Pro” users seriously at all.
I’m a heavy Photoshop user with occasional Motion Graphics and 3D.
Once the M1 released, I think all Pro users sighed relief. I did. The M1 announcements made me stay with Apple. It seemed like Apple was taking their Pro’s seriously, but more revealing was that Intel‘s CPUs were holding back the entire industry. It’s no wonder why my 2014-2017 MacBook Pro’s were disappointing purchases.
I can’t wait to get my 16” M1 Max MacBook Pro. I will be trading it in to spare someone else from having to deal with my old laptop ?
