I had a friend design this logo for my band.

logo-new-12.gif

However, two things I need adjusted: Removing the square in the top right and also giving it a washed out gradient seen here?

If someone could just carefully cut out the square, it'd be much appreciated.

Friend designed it...so apparantly has the original file and all...and you can't ask him or her to make the changes?

You will have much better luck making the changes to the original file, which I'm sure has all the seperate layers. You are also asking for us to edit a GIF file when the original, I'm pretty sure, is going to be in some vector-based format.

It's just weird that you are asking anonymous people here to make adjustments to someone else's work who did this work specifically for you. Any designer worth his or her salt won't hand over a completed logo unless the customer is absolutely happy with it. It's not their job to throw together one version of a few letters in B&W and let you mess around with coloring and shading for alternate applications. Usually, you will get multiple sizes and colors and styles of the logo to choose from and to use in various applications.

I am sure somebody can do it here.

It's not illogical or a copyright tort that I know of.

I'm not saying or accusing that it is. But, surely working on the original Illustrator or Photoshop file would be better than working on a tiny GIF file, no?

Heck, even I can open this up in MS Paint here at work and erase the offending box, but the original designer with the original layers in the original file would be able to more accurately eliminate the box as well as easily do the gray-scaling the OP wants.

Yeah, definitely get your friend to fix it for you. It should take him/her a few seconds to do that for you. As for someone on here to take what you have given us, will take us longer to do, due to the poor quality logo provided.

Why are you afraid to ask them to fix it for you though? Do you think they might get offended or something?
