Could the Iphone be modded to work on Verizon?

I know the Iphone is GMS and Verizon is CDMA.. I know nothing about the two technologize. Has anyone tried to modify an Iphone internally to make it work on Verizon? Would it even be possible? I bet that type of Iphone would bring BIG money on Ebay if someone was good enough to do it...

1) Put the iPhone in WiFi mode only
2) Use Skype or another WiFi-based calling app
3) Get the MyFi from Verizon, plus service ($39.95/month). 4 hour battery life.

Wait until Verizon comes out with 4G. Then, if the 4G is backwards compatible (which it probably won't be as it's Verizons first venture in this direction), it may work. It would also probably work when Verizon upgrades to 4G, and iPhone comes out with a new one with 4G support. Taking a 3G/Edge and GSM, and to modify one internally, forget it.... I don't think you'll ever find it.

I think you are thinking of combination microwave convection ovens. But those come from the factory that way. You can't buy a regular microwave and modify it to add the convection function.

Some phones were completely designed through all the stages of development, from conception through implementation and final refinements, with the express intention of operating on both technologies within a single handset.

The iPhone is not such a device.

Google "blackberry cdma gsm." You'll see that the cdma/gsm models are made by RIM. The crackberries you saw weren't modded by a hacker to run both, they came from the factory that way.

Haha, I was going to do something similar if I went to Sprint to get the HTC Hero. But the Sprint Hero hasn't been rooted yet, but I could Wifi tether it to my iPhone so I'd basically have two phones working on unlimited data.

Someone should just tape a mifi to the back of an iPhone and try to ebay it as a CDMA/EVDO iPhone!!!
