Does anyone ever see Apple bringing in a curved display with touch screen? I have to say, this HP curved all in one looks a beaut!

Serious question, will Apple bring in touch screens to any of the Mac line ups? Anyone see the worth in them?

I don't understand touch screens on anything but tablets/hybrids/handhelds etc.

Would be incredibly unergonomic to use touch on a desktop machine...

I understand the implementation of touch on windows laptops though. There's not a single touchpad on a Windows laptop that isn't rubbish.

Apple got their touchpad right, so why implement something that will force them to redesign the whole UI of OSX...

It's the hassle as well of smudged fingers all over a huge glossy display. I think that would drive me mad to be honest....

It's one of those things that seems to be "in".

I understand that in some circumstances a huge curved screen is better for watching movies, but on on a computer that sits so close to you? No... unless you use it as 3 displays-in-one (i.e. 5760 x 1080 resolution, or 7680 x 1440 in this particular case).

Touch on a desktop....? How irritating is that?
Only good for "kiosk mode".

The curved display in a three-in-one makes sense to me (you do the same thing physically with three separate monitors. I don't see the purpose on a tv though.

I could see touch being useful in some instances like activating something on the far edge of the screen. I would likely keep my email client open on the left hand third and it would likely be easier to tap the screen if I wanted to see a single email that came in rather than moving my mouse across two screens. Or maybe not depending on if I'm slouched back and can't reach the screen well...
 
Well it is different, and so I could see Apple embracing this, as a way to differentiate the iMacs. I'm not really sold on the concept, but I definitely can see apple doing this.
 
It certainly looks cool, but I just don't see Apple releasing anything like that. The reason being that it simply is not practical for the majority of users. I did spend some time on a large, curved display and while it sometimes is great, more often than not it feels off. Might be just me, but something about the curved display so close to the eyes that feels very strange/unnatural when you shift focus from one end to the other and after a couple of hours my eyes felt a lot more tired than switching between multiple normal screens. I looks cool though :p

Touch screen? Not going to happen. If Apple hasn't relented to make one this long, it is unlikely to change now. Again, a similar argument: practical usage. Touching the screen on a desktop is tiresome and just not comfortable. PC All-In-Ones and notebooks use touch screen, but as someone already pointed out, their trackpads are just awful compared to the ones Apple is offering. They are like touch screens on All-In-Ones: great on paper, useless in real-life. Try one of those ASUS AiO and see how often you chase if across your desk because its stand is just not good enough for touching the screen all the time :p

No touchscreens on a desktop. Not for me anyway. It's funny, there are people in the iPad forums saying one of the biggest negatives for the iPad Pro was the lack of being able to use a mouse. In the iMac forum there are people that say they want a touchscreen desktop. These are prime examples of why I am ok with Apple being the ones to decide what to include on their gadgets. It's impossible to please everybody.

That only works for extremely wide screens, most people wouldn't benefit from extremely-wide screens, and the iMac form factor is narrow enough that you would accomplish the same thing by plugging in two additional monitors into your iMac. Selling an iMac that takes up the space of three monitors would also defeat the point of buying Apple Displays. Not to mention putting the hardware inside while remaining faithful to the thin-obsession would probably be an engineer's nightmare.

Curved-display iMac is never happening.

haha! No offense taken, I liked the fact it's different. That's the great thing for us consumers, there really is so much choice now and Windows is so much better than it was in the XP and Vista days.

I currently have a 2010 27in iMac and at the end of the day I'll be getting a new iMac in a few months, or I'll wait until the fall to see what the news iMac models are like. But I applaud HP for making a PC like that and their new notebooks are pretty cool looking as well.
