I was just thinking about how we might have to sign even more contracts to get 3G service on the tablet, which I wouldn't like and definitely won't do, but then I got an idea...Would if ever be possible that the Tablet could have a place to put our iPhone SIM cards in and use for service? This would be much better than signing another data contract and it could just be another thing we get to do with the unlimited Data plans that we already pay for....Is this just a crazy dream of mine, or has anyone else thought about that??

Could the Tablet possibly have a SIM card like the iPhone?

I think its likely there will be some 3G support. If it will be like smartphones, a monthly fee, or kindle like(where the data is free) isn't yet know(I'm betting the data fee per month, as it will likely be very media based, which would add up)
As for SIM card, we'll see if Apple is using AT&T(or T Mobile) or Verizon(or Sprint) in the US.

Yeah I mean I think they've pretty much confirmed that it will definitely have 3G, but I just don't think I'd sign another contract with a monthly fee because you're right, it will add up. I think it would be nice of Apple/At&t (or whoever the carriers might be) to just let 3G be part of the service we already pay for OR do what the kindle does and just let it be free (which is probably unlikely, although it would be great)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge, Kindle doesn't have a 3g connection, nor is it data-intensive.
Alright, as I thought this wasn't true, I just looked into it, and it indeed isn't true. The Kindle 2 has a 3g connection.
The fact people would just swap out their sim card tells me it's no likely the iTablet will have a slot. The radio chip/chips will likely be built in forcing people to pay a cell provider a monthly fee as these devices will consume large amounts of data and there is about a 0% chance the will let us do that without paying someone.
Yes I realize we all pay $30 bucks a month for our data plans, but they won't consider this a phone, it will be considered a full blown computer due to the size and ease in which people can surf, stream video, download content. My hope, is if we choose to sign up with AT&T, they would combine this with our iPhone plan and maybe charge $30/month for the tablet so our total data fee would be 60 between the iPhone and iTablet for data. Still would suck, but better then only having to pay $60/mo for a data plan which is what every carrier offers on a 2 year deal. (actually I think T mobile is 40/mo?) Then again T mobile has less coverage and speed then ATT or VZW so kinda of pointless there.

huh? Are you trying to say only the kindle 2 has a 3G connection, but not the other kindles? If so you are wrong. They all do.

Kindle 2 just switched from sprint to HSDPA.
The kindle in the UK has 3G but is free. This means Amazon have set a precedent. I can't speak for the US, but in the UK, all of us who are now past our 12/18month min iPhone contracts pay £15 per month for 600 minutes and 1,200 texts. When we first took the contract out it was £30 per month with most people choosing the £35 per month contract With this in mind, Apple, if they do decide to make the iSlate a subscription based service item will have the price it very very low otherwise people just won't take it up, IMO.

The original Kindle had a 3G connection as well.
My guess is that it will have 3G connectivity. However, I doubt that it will be like the Kindle. I believe there will be a monthly charge just like a cell phone.
