All these rectangular executions of smart watches look very odd.
Imagine a circular screen that had a virtual click wheel built in. Making selections would require a deliberate circle motion with a finger, eliminating the risk of accidental taps on the wrist. This would also be a much faster way to scroll through a series of items, unlike the app by app swipe that the galaxy gear incorporates (samsung touts 70 apps for the watch, imagine having to swipe 70 times to get to the app you want!).
iOS 7 also includes far more circle based graphics than any iOS before it, which could be an indicator.
