Could this be the reason iPhone activation isn't working?

I ran a diagnostics thing on iTunes just now and got this in the result:

Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server unsuccessful.

You think it might be why activation isn't working?
I don't have the iPhone now so I can't try it.. but im just wondering
