We all know how Windows 7 beta looks but what if Microsoft decides to modify the OS even more for the un-beta version...

Something like this:

I'm not sure if its an actual feature of the final windows 7 or not but I think it might have been in early builds. You can easily add it though by the looks of it by getting this

As I recall those were early concept builds of Windows 7. I think when it was still in Alpha.

They should have moved the application buttons more towards the center of the taskbar. Then moved the start button, date/time, and notification area to the top. Further integrating the menu items for applications to the top.

Here is a concept rendering of what I am talking about. Just replace the blue Apple button with the Windows start button.

lol, that concept was used by apple 20 years ago, and last time I checked, the concept lost to windows, big time.

That's a huge obvious fake.. Microsoft wouldn't get rid of their Taskbar. It's one of the advantages Windows has over OS X.

Pika you have made quite a few threads on Windows 7 and seem to be concerned about it. Have you actually used it?

If he hasn't he should really download the RC and install on bootcamp (providing he has a mac) or a PC. :) I love it but only installed for use with 1 program as I can't get it for free on a Mac yet...

Windows 7 scare the **** out of me because they try to be as good as Mac OS X Leopard and they do it well... I'm worried of what would append to Apple if Windows become like Mac Os X... It would be the end of Apple.

I'm waiting for the final release... As much as I hate windows, when it's released, I'm going to find a way to get it free without supporting Microsoft.

I'm saving to buy Snow Leopard.

welcome to the world of bit-torrent ;)

And you sound paranoid :p I would still have this machine if windows was similar to os X. MS don't do hardware ;)
Apple do it, and are THE BEST

Microsoft Design an intuitive UI!?!?

In all seriousness the ripper has become the ripped from. Microsoft steals from KDE 4!!!

In what way? I find the dock to be a much better efficient use of space.

I think Apple's gonna be fine..7 is good, but its not going to eat into Apple's strong base(it could slow the switchers and win a few people back)

That's the worst ever excuse to pirate Windows. Would you also steal an xbox from the store because you didn't want to support MS, but you still wanted to play games? If you're going to pirate it, fine, but don't pretend it's because you hate MS.

I downloaded Windows 7 (x64) and put it on a laptop and it ran perfect, although there was some glitches. Windows 7 is getting more and more like OSX as the months go on though. I then got rid of it and put Ubuntu on it for some bizarre reason.

I first thought, damn Apple may have some competition but then realized it isn't JUST the OS on Apple people want, it is the design aspect of what what Apple have to offer.

Apple make their computers so sleak, comfortable and stylish. Don't forget, it isn't just about the Operating System.

Hmm, damn, i used the 32-bit windows 7 RC. Can my 2.4, uMB run it in x64 and if so would the same programs work? :/
Oh and whats the difference really? I only use windows 7 to use 'bunkspeed hypershot' a rendering program. Would i notice a difference?

I was running it on a laptop that was given to me, here are the specifications of the laptop.

Acer Aspire 5315
Intel® Celeron® processor 530 (1.73GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
1GB RAM DDR2
252MB Mobile Intel® GraphicsMedia Accelerator X3100
15.4" WXGA Acer CrystalBrite LCD (8ms/220nits)
80GB HDD

x64 should *fingers-crossed* work on your machine.

Cool, any ideas if I will notice the difference? Trying to decide whether its worth re-downloading the RC and re-installing via bootcamp.

You should see a considerable improvement. It would be worth downloading it and checking it out for yourself.

You COULD see a considerable improvement, its not should. 32bit apps literally run the same speed as in a 32bit os because they are running in a 'virtualised' 32bit environment so any benefits of a 64bit os and 64bit cpu are lost.

If you are running a 64bit app (ie 3ds max, solidworks, photoshop cs4 x64 etc) then you will see a gain in performance and of course theres the additional memory access (32 bit apps still limited to 3GB roughly though). I saw a reduction in time of about a third when moving between 3ds max 32bit (xp) and 64bit (vista) when rendering.
