Could you imagine going even bigger then ipad 12.9?

i know. I'm gonna sound totally off my rocker here, but I've gotten so used to the size of the 12.9 iPad that it just seems totally normal. Now the regular 9.7 or even 10.5 iPads feel like the mini and when I see the mini it just looks like a big iPhone to me. I miss the feeling I had when I first got the 12.9 of "whoaaa this thing is huge". I could imagine going even bigger as long as it was bezel less and light.

Same here. It doesn't really feel huge to me. Going back to the iPad Air 2 and it feels so cramped.

15" could probably work, especially if they make the bezel smaller or perhaps make the entire front panel from glass (so the home screen becomes also part of the touch screen).

Larger than 12.9"? Yikes. It'd be like carrying around a small TV. I actually found the 12.9 to feel a tad too cumbersome in the store when I checked one out a while back. Probably something you have to get used to but it's just not for me. 9.7 is perfect and I suppose the new 10.5 will be my max size.

I would love a 21" iOS device that I could place on my desk and illustrate with Apple Pencil in Procreate.

I am hoping they increase it to 14" by decreasing the bezels with the next version, but who knows. Big iPads sell less than "regular" ones, it seems. For me, the bigger, the better.

That is fine for regular use, but for illustration and photo editing, 10.5 is too small. It's perfectly doable, but 12.9" is better. And bigger than that - it would be even more awesome.

Besides, is carrying a 15" laptop like carrying a small TV? No it's not.

If Apple is serious about iOS devices becoming the "next" thing in computing, and if they don't want to bring the Pencil to the Mac, then they better give us some productivity screen sizes for iOS devices.

When the iPad Pro 12.9" was first announced, Apple pointed out that the short side of the iPad Pro 12.9" is the same as the long side of the iPad 9.7".

The same method applied to the iPad Pro 10.5" gives a hypothetical iPad Pro 14.0" with a point resolution of 1112x1482 or 1112x1483.

A comparison with the other iPad sizes:
  • iPad mini: 7.9", 768x1024 points, 326 PPI
  • iPad (5th gen): 9.7", 768x1024 points, 264 PPI
  • iPad Pro (10.5"): 10.5", 836x1112 points, 264 PPI
  • iPad Pro (12.9"): 12.9", 1024x1366 points, 264 PPI
  • iPad Pro (14.0"): 14.0", ≈1112x1482 points, 264 PPI
A 14" iPad Pro in portrait mode should be wide enough so that in asymmetric Split View the wider app can be displayed in Regular width rather than the Compact width of the 12.9" and smaller iPads (from the numbers here). This property holds whether the narrower app is 375 points wide (iPhone 7 width) or 414 points wide (iPhone 7 Plus width).

The minimum 4:3 display size that covers both A4 and US Letter paper is 14.6" (8.77"x11.69"). So personally I prefer a display size of 15"-16" since that display size allows for a full size sheet of paper to be displayed on the iPad without scaling, plus room for toolbars and other interface elements.

Yeah if apple wanted to just make a big freaking ipad into a desktop type system running iOS and everything and just make it like the surface studio, I would buy in a heartbeat. I'm getting to the point where I actually prefer iOS to mac

I think if I were to have an iPad that large, it would be primarily stationary for me. Portability wise, that would be too much for me to want to tote around.

Me too, but then again if apple were able to dramatically reduce the dimensions of the iPad in some radical new redesign where a 15 inch screen wasn't that much bigger and it was still just as light? Maybe. When I first saw the iPad Pro keynote I never thought I'd want an iPad THIS big and here I am typing on it with a big smile on my face

For me, 15" is the highest I would go for portability actually. I used to bring a 17.3" laptop around; could easily see and feel your point

You forgot to tell us how big you are. :p

For me the perfect size is the mini. I could go up to to 9.7"-10.5" if it stays at home or at the office, but not for a tablet that I take with me in everyday commute. For anything bigger I would choose a normal portable computer, not a tablet. But I understand that in some professional fields big tablets may be really helpful. E.g. in health care.
 
In the hybrid laptop and connected tablet market--wacom, etc--16" is emerging as a very popular size for artists. I think this size is a sweet spot for these products, but don't know if it makes sense in an ipad.
 
Right now -- I'm still trying to get over the fact I have a 12.9 on order. Never imagined that would happen even one month ago.

Realistically, yes, I can see a 15" offered in the future assuming iOS continues to get more traditional laptop functionality. Whether I'd buy one can't say. Need more specs. Already the 12.9 is pretty expensive compared to a MacBook.
 
I'd probably want something that is between the two iPad Pro models instead. 11.5-12" or something as the 10.5" feels a little bit too small and 12.9" a little bit too big. For anything bigger it would have to be a Surface Studio type desktop device. I could see the value in something like that but iOS has a long way to go before it can support something that big. It would need even better multitasking and allow more icons in the grid too.
