Could you please tell me if this page is too slow

This site for francophone iweb users has an iframe and does not seem too heavy for me but someone told me that it takes a long time to load, I cannot figure out why.
If you want to bash iweb please don't bother to look you would be wasting your time.
I thank all of you for your input. Any suggestions welcome

That page didn't come up, said it couldn't find it. You shouldn't use accented characters in a URL, and is possibly part of the reason for slow loading.
 
Took just over 10 seconds to load for me which is indeed too long for a site of that design. This is due in part to the iframe but also to the fact that you have lots of images, which you don't really need if you were to code your layout in CSS instead.

Accented characters do work on .mac even though they do not work on other servers. If I do not use the accents then the word is mispelled. I cannot do that and the problem is not that the link does not work.
I will rework the images so that it loads faster, but I use iweb because I do not know how to do the css that you talk about.
I will check it out. If I do manage a css do I then use a snippet to make it work in iweb?

I just googled foreign characters and came up with this page:

You should replace the foreign character in your source code with the appropriate HTML equivalent.

Honestly though, that won't help your load time. Your problem is primarily the iframe and unnecessary images.

Then why can't I view your link in Firefox or Safari? You will have others who can't access the site. Using accented characters is against the URI specification.

Unsafe characters
In canonical form, certain characters such as spaces, control characters, some characters whose ASCII code is used differently in different national character variant 7 bit sets, and all 8bit characters beyond DEL (7F hex) of the ISO Latin-1 set, shall not be used unencoded. This is a recommendation for trouble-free interchange, and as indicated below, the encoded set may be extended or reduced.

Sorry I did not get to this post earlier but as I was about to my internet connection went belly up.
Would you mind telling me why you object to the iframe. I used it because I thought that it would be easier for people to see the answers to questions in one place instead of going from page to page. Do you have another (perhaps better) solution? I am learning and I listen.

I don't know why you cannot see the site but I have had a lot of people who visited it and the other posters have not had a hard time finding it.
As I said I am not a code I use Iweb. If I knew how to do web pages another way I would possibly use something else. I do not like post publication in iweb either so I must find my solutions within the software I use.
I do know that accented characters are not common because a lot of the standards are based on English but there are words that other languages cannot do without the accents. (Or should not). I don't want to argue with you about whether one should adapt or not, the fact is I cannot change the name of that page without turning it into a meaningless jumble of letters.

that would not solve my problem I like one click publishing to .mac, I know that is part of the slow problem. I may have to reconsider ! in that case I will let you know.:)
 
You know why now - the images and iframe. If it's just one visitor who's complained, I'd just leave it (since you don't want to abandon iWeb). If more people complain, then you really have a problem.

You are right, I just found out that some browsers (don't which) do not see accented caracters at all so I went ahead and removed it. I don't think it will change the speed anyway. I will have to redesign part of the navigation and possibly the site but a little later.
I appreciate eveyone's input

I was going to post this link yesterday, but you didn't seem willing to change the accent, but now that you are take a look at this page. If you scroll half way down there's a section on accent characters and provides a link to a utility that supposedly help with fixing the filenames. I have not used the utility myself so can't say how well it works.

I understand wanting to use non-ascii characters. I work in Japanese as well and wouldn't mind occasionally using Japanese characters, but a whole lot of people can't type in those characters so it limits the number of people that can visit. There are discussions to help in this area so hopefully in the near future we won't need to take such measures.
 
Thank you angelwatt for the link. I have changed the page name and I aslo got into the package to change the localization of the french project to remove the potential problems with the blog pages. I read that they can create problems.
I guess part of the redesign is going to be a whole new navbar and ditch the one provided by iweb.
