Hello everyone,

So here at college, in my dorm, everybody seems to be playing counterstrike over the LAN, and It looks like a ton of fun...

Anybody know where I could download it to play for mac?

Thanks!

Eric D.

Boot Camp

I used boot camp and installed windows. CS:S runs great. The only pain is re-booting to play the game.

Ah, ok...

Is there any way to play it if I dont want to dish out extra money and buy windows?

I can't seem to find the download link for it...

and what is wine?

Well i think theres a Cider Port that just came out, u could try that. Cider Ports will run natively on OSX, so theres no need for virtualization software.

oh i love counter strike source.
To play it you need a program called steam which is for pc only. i
If you get wine its only counter strike 1.6 which nobody really plays now every one plays source. Its the same game just better graphics and they are not compatible with each other.

so your only option is to by a pc, buy windows and boot camp or just not play the game.

the reason i said CS:1.6 because that plays prefectly on wine and CS:S has a couple of bugs on wine he needs to tell us which one

Get Crossover Games

ill be honest, i dont like mac lols, nothing against you guys that own one. your
best option is to get crossover games, it cost money about $40 or you can reinstall the trial every 7 days, and buy cs:s is like $20 so yea. with crossover games you dont have to restart your computer or anything, just run crossover, open up steam then run cs. you best option. heres the link http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/
hope this help mate.

I play CS:S on my MBP and it runs perfectly. I just installed it using CrossOver Games and no hassles at all.

The difference between Source and 1.6 is great and this is also why many, many players (maybe not in the U.S. but everywhere else) prefer to play 1.6 still. I would argue 1.6 is the more difficult game and much harder to master. Still both games are shooters and the movement is simillar.

I play 1.6 on my macbook pro using bootcamp and it runs great.

^^^ I would definitely check that out. Crossover does a really good job when it comes to cs. I havent had any issues at all.

thats utter BS

i play source and have played 1.6 till i got fed up with it when source came out. cs source is way better, and harder than 1.6, i continuously flog my friends that play 1.6 when we go to the netcafe,

Yep, Crossover Games is really nice for HL games.

Also have a pretty decent support for other steam games as well.

Sorry to bring this thread up again, but I tried all of those things listed above, and nothing worked, or I might have done it wrong...

Also, any way to play Call of Duty 4 (Windows Version) In mac OSX?

I know is unlikely, but worth a shot.

same as the answer to the first question...gotta use bootcamp and run windows to play the windows version! you'd think that was pretty self evident... or wait a week or so and get the mac version, or dl the mac version at www.aspyr.com
