Couple MacBook issues...

I bought a black MB. I love it, but I had to return the first one because the plastic right where it says "MacBook" in white was bubbling off the screen. There was also another problem which made the computer freeze after a prolonged sleep, but I never brought this up because they were replacing the computer for the problem with the plastic under the monitor.

Great, so now I have my new new MacBook and I'm happy again. Just about 10 minutes ago I threw a cd in and heard some noises while it was spinning. I took the cd out and the cd drive had scratched the cd all the way around in circles. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I should note that the notebook wasn't completely level and I was holding it from the bottom and movind it around to see if it would do it when I moved it, but I was barely moving it. Maybe unless the computer is completely still i shouldn't use cds? My old iBook could survive a nuclear explosion. Should I take it back again? Closest apple store is very far away i have no car and im very busy and im thinking im just gonna have another problem with the next one if they replace this one. dont get me wrong this computer is nuts, but is this normal to go through with new models?

Apple is going under. They're gonna go out of business if they don't get their rear in gear. Every computer of theirs has some problem now. You can't just buy a laptop that works.

What are you talking about????

THe bubbling plastic was probably the issue mentioned in this thread. Simple fix, remove the piece of plastic, which was put there in assembly to keep objects from going into the fan area.

And the CD problem. If i had any laptop at a non-level angle i would expect similar results. A laptop that isn't level, plus holding it and moving it around will probably cause a problem. Go blame physics, not Apple.

Oh, and you can buy a laptop that "just works". I happen to have one, a MB.

To the OP, when you put the MB to sleep were any programs running?

I think there were no programs running when it would freeze, but the problem hasn't happened with the new MB Apple gave me. Im not blaming Apple I love Apple, just a little frustrated because i dont want to have to take it back again. ill just keep it level lol. i love the black..

I was just curious as to the sleep issue. I have had apps running on my TiPB when i put it to sleep, and upon waking the machine up the app locked up, but a force quit did the job.

Typically CD drives do not like to be tilted...lol. I have found Macs in general to be a bit more picky about media (CDR, DVDR) than other computers. Just dont use the "$2 No-name" disks and you should be ok.

Good luck with the second one, and if the optical drive gives you more trouble (i would test it again, flat this time...) give Apple a call.

i have burned cds when my ibook was in an angle , not like a ***** angle, more like 50 degrees, i have bumped the drive while burning/reading, and been in a moving car that vibrated (burning linux cds on the way to visit a client)

i think you should get it replaced
