1) I hate having to see ad elements on websites, but of course you can't use plugins on Safari Mobile. Instead I downloaded a proxy server called bfilter. I am running this on my Windows 7 box and routing the iPad's web traffic through it. Poof, ads gone. If there's a performance/speed hit I'm not noticing it.

2) The "Air Video" streaming app (per the developer) will be updated for iPad and they say it's going to be universal. This $3 iPhone app is already streaming media from my backend (on that same Win7 box), with no glitching at all--I'm looking at you, ABC Player--AND converting my very large HD files on the fly with very little delay. Of course you're still in iPhone rez, but given the smooth operation and the dev's promise of a universal app, I went ahead and upgraded my Free/eval version to paid today in anticipation of the universal app.

The Air Video server on my PC is converting everything just fine. I have video in a wide variety of sources and format. This means I don't have to use up space on the iPad for this media.

Air Video is great on the iPhone and I'm really looking forward to it on the iPad. The developer says they have already submitted the universal version to the app store - and yes, it's great that they aren't charging for a separate ipad version!

Oh, nice!

I'm a home media server junkie. :)
