I previously had a MobileMe account (in the days the email addresses were @mac), however, haven't used the account for a couple of years.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to renew that account rather than getting a new @me account? I've just tried logging in (which worked about 6 months ago, but only took me to my account settings screen), but it just says Find my iphone isn't set up.

Also, looking into alternatives. I already use Google Apps for my business email and calendar but looking into syncing data, etc. I dunno, it just feels like MobileMe would be easier as it's an all in one service, but I don't really want another email address.

One alternative that's caught my eye is SugarSync. They have a free 5GB account then 30GB for $4.99/m, etc. They seem to be the best because you can choose any folder on your system to sync (and multiple folders). They also have an iPhone app.

What do you guys think? Should I just go with MobileMe or is it worth looking into these alternatives

I found sugarsync to be the slowest of the storage services I looked at, and did start to feel a little harassed by emailscurging me to upgrade to a paid account.

nah.
Dropbox is probably the best I've used. Lots of support, backup and an API that a lot of people are doing stuff with.

Zumodrive second, good for linked folders and backups of documents folders etc.

Both have good iphone apps.

As for contact, calendar, and email - google are good, yahoo too.

I'm ditching my mobileme account when it expires in June.

with the advent of icloud, my subscription (the free trial one), has been extended.
I might just hold onto this for a little while longer.
