i've been debating back and forth for months and have finally decided to purchase the apple tv. i am curious though, i have my tv set up connected to an outlet that is on a kill switch (hit the switch when we leave for the day so everything isn't sucking power while it isn't in use) and was wondering if this would be harmful to the apple tv? also, can you stream from the atv to an airport express for sound? thanks in advance, reading this forum has helped so much!

Turning it off on is damaging but to a very very small extent its basically a computer and there on and off multiple times a day. The only time you should probley turn it off is if your leaving 24hrs+. Also check out www.atvflash.com couchsurfer with boxee is a whole new ATV!

I would not recommend to turn it off every day, rather only when you leave for a longer period.
Regarding the streaming capabilities - rather than spending money on atvflash's solution, you might want to try patchstick.ca's solution, which allows you to test the software and also offers a better UI while still being less expensive.
If you are good with Terminal, you might want to try one of the free versions available.
