1. What is the maximum size and speed of hard drive that can be fitted internally into the latest MacBook Pro?

2. I was in John Lewis today in Nottingham and was looking at the 15" and 17" MacBook Pros. I was looking in carefully at the screen brightness and quality and it became apparently clear that the 15" has a much brighter and sharper display and looks even across the entire display where as the 17" looks faded and not very sharp. Am I correcting in seeing this as the case? Would it be better to get the 15"?

200 GB @ 7200 RPM or 250 GB @ 5400 RPM or 200 GB @ 4200 RPM.

15" models use the LED backlit screens while the 17" models sport the fluorescent tube.

And how would I go about getting 200GB @ 7200rpm? Yeah the LED trounces the tube I think.

I know lol but I mean on the Apple Store for the UK I've not seen an option for 200GB & 7200rpm only 160GB :p

You get it yourself, enter a shop, ask for one of the disks, you pay and install it  It normally works that way.... of course, you can get always your wand out and conjure it from thin air. In that special case... get a 250 TB 2,5" disk of course :D

If you buy it somewhere else (the internet) you will probably save $80 off of what Apple will charge you. I got mine for $200. Install is another $90. So I did it myself.

Lol well what is the best 200GB @ 7200rpm and how easy is it to install?

While your trying to conjure one up, can you make it 2? Ive always wanted a 2.5" 250TB hdd =D imagine the amount of p0rn u can fit on that!!

Well I'm not sure how comfortable I am with replacing hard drive after seeing guide. I don't want to knacker my brand new MBP when I get it. Maybe sticking with 160GB is best :(

It take about 30 minutes and I was very careful.

Is the 160GB a 7200 RPM drive?

Contrary to what others have written, I don't believe there is a drive 160 gb or bigger that is 7200 rpm. The only ones I've seen for sale on the market are either 5400 rpm or 4200 rpm. I've searched many online retailers (Newegg, etc.), and the max size that has 7200 rpm in a laptop hard drive is 120 gb.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the link, might have to pick one up :D My only concerns would be the heat, noise, and decreased battery life if I installed it in my MBP?

I got it from that zipzoom whatever place. No tax, no shipping. :D

There have been no issues with the new drive. Very quite, seems to run cool too.

It is the same brand that Apple sells when you get the 100GB 7200 RPM drive.

Seagate is also making a 200GB drive but the Hitachi will still be faster.
