I got my first MB yesterday. I am a switcher and I have a couple of questions.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong here. I copied my music from my PC and transfered all the songs through the Ipod disk mode to my MB. I added each folder to itunes library and the origina folder is still sitting on my Desktop. I also transferred some pictures through Ipod disk mode and from my camera to my MB. I calibarated my Battery as you guys had told me to and then just before the battery was about to die I closed and saved all my work and shut down the MB. Today morning i.e now I opened itunes there is Nothing in it. I opened iphoto there is nothing in there.

I also noticed that the HD space is 55 GB which I understand, but it also shows that I have used almost 19 gb already, which I know I have not at the most with my music and pictures it must be around 5 -6 gb. I don't know where all that space is gone.

Lastly its a refurbrished MB and it only came with the regular 512 mb ram, which is fine, some of you get lucky and some of you don't. But when I turned the MB for the first time and went through all the set up process and came to OS interface. It immediately asked me to install updates for almost 12 or more apllications, including itunes, iphoto etc etc. I did update a few but in themiddle of it I stopped.

So thats my story. I am loving this machine without a doubt, but if I were more knowledgeble I think i woud enjoy this machine more. Also one last thing can you hide folders in a Mac like how you can hide it in windows.

Any suggestions for me.

I have had my MacBook for about 3 weeks now, an amazing machine. Alot of your 19GB usuage will be the OS itself including iLife. If you get a chance you should finish installing the updates. If I remember correctly some of them are security updates.

My MacBook also came with 512 but I upgraded the ram, it made a dramatic change in the way the machine operates.

Have fun :)

Before installing anything I checked my MB HD and it was also about 55GB. I used Monolingual to free up about 1.6GB. After installing maybe 10-15 apps, I have 57GB free...it seems as if the apps didn't take up any room at all.

Limewire shares music over your network, like iTunes can do if it is installed on another computer on your network.

You havn't installed Limewire on your computer - you're just accessing whatever Rachel has downloaded through Limewire onto her computer.
