I've been putting it off for a while, but now I'm ready to sell my 1st gen iPhone on eBay (a few weeks ago I upgraded to the 3G). I have not yet reset the phone to erase my data, but I just did unlock the phone via QuickPwn (I had firmware 2.0.2 if it matters). I get the pineapple logo, so I assume this means it's unlocked (is there another way of testing?).

Anyhow, now I need to erase my data and I'd like to reset it using the settings menu function, but I'm worried that if I do this, it may change its unlocked status back to locked, AND bring me back to the original screen which looks for an AT&T signal to "verify itself." Since I don't have anyway to do this, I'd be worried that I couldn't sell it at that point.

Does anyone have any insight/advice on this?

Thanks,
M

Umm...go into Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings

then I THINK your unlock will still be there..not sure though.

To make sure all of your info is erased you should really do a clean restore. You should restore then select set up as new iphone. You will have to the unlock again but its probably worth it.
