After 8 years of Snow Leopard, I've updated to El Capitan, and although I have a ton of questions, I just want to ask a couple for now if that's OK,

Firstly, the format of the iOS Mac Mail, is there anything anywhere that would ever get the mail up and over again, instead of the side view when reading mail? I guess not, but thought I'd ask anyway, without using a different Mail app.

When opening jpegs in the Downloads folder for example, the image opens in Preview as always, but the folder behind it slides off and leaves the desktop as background, Is that usual, so I have to slide back to open another image every time, Can the folder I'm getting the images from stay where it is, instead of sliding off to the right? Thanks

EDIT: One other thing, the fan is at 4000rpm instead of 2000 on Snow Leopard, and doing very little. Is that a common problem?

For Mail there is a classic layout choice in Preferences -> Viewing. Preview seems to be using a different Space, check your Mission Control settings in System Preferences.

Will check that out, not sure what you mean on the Preview settings, is that something that shouldn't be happening then?
Nothing has been changed, it's just been installed

Is El Cap nor Sierra not able to use pinch and zoom in folders or desktop like Snow Leopard was, or in Mail?
You could pretty much pinch and zoom anything on that OS no matter where you were including file icons in any folders?
