I am still having issues getting notifications while I’m doing anything else. Like I’ll be on safari or something, and when I close it out I’ll have 10 texts that I never realized came through. I cannot for the life of me figure out what I’ve done to make that happen (or NOT happen).

Also, I have message threads with several people, and the message threads are named. I used to be able to just type in the thread name if I was trying to send a pic or something (for instance, GIRLZ, for my daughters’ thread), but now that doesn’t work - I have to type in each individual name, or start messaging from the thread directly.

Anyone that can help me figure this out would be greatly appreciated!

Couple things to check

  1. Settings/Notifications/Messages
    1. Make sure allow Notifications and time sensitive notifications are on
    2. I have alerts selected on all 3 options (Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners)
    3. Ensure Badges is on (also my banner style is temporary and sounds is "note")
    4. I have Show previews set to "when unlocked"
  2. Settings/Messages/Send & Receive - Make sure your phone number is selected for "Start new conversations from"
  3. Settings/Messages - scroll down and make sure "send as SMS" is turned off
    1. On this same screen, make sure MMS messaging and Group Messaging are turned on
If all else fails, you might try turning iMessage off and back on...this is in settings/messages

Hope that helps...

I think all my settings are like that, but I’ll verify. Badges might NOT be on, but I know my sounds are on “note” as well.

The only setting I had that was different was show previews was set to “always,” and “send as SMS” was turned on.

Send as SMS may be the reason your group texts are not working right. When that setting is on, the texts go out as a normal SMS (i.e. not an iMessage) to the recipients. I would suspect that the recipients on iPhones are getting green bubbles from you instead of the blue ones....

Not sure why the notifications are not working....the "always" setting should not be causing an issue.
