iPhone Couple of Waze questions

So I’ve stared tying out Waze as some people on here rave about it, but I have 2 niggles I wanted to ask about…

1. When I finish a route, the app seems to stay “active” ie the blue “location” icon in the top left of the screen stays. It doesn’t go unless I force close the app. Apple Maps and Google maps don’t do this, is this customisable?

2. How you turn the map so north is up?? I can’t see a button like on the others!

I have noticed the same thing, map stays active when leaving the car even in the background. I think it must turn off after a while though now that I think bout it as I don't force close it when I get to work and it is not on now. So many some time delay?

Regarding North Up, if you go into settings>Map Display there is an option for keep map north up.

2. To get north always up, in settings > map display and toggle "Keep map north up" to ON.

So the North thing, what I want is for the map to stay north-up when browsing, but NOT when navigating... I want it to face the way the car is facing when navigating, but when I'm searching for a place to navigate to on the map I would like it to be North up, or at least have a button to orient the map properly. Both Google and Apple Maps do this by default so not sure why Waze doesn't seem to have the option!
