I am thinking of getting the ME subscription. I have a Gmail e-mail address I currently use as my main e-mail.

I do have a few questions though ...

1) With the pictures, is it worth it to sync them via iPhoto?
2) I realized the email address changed from @mac to @me ... chances of that happening again soon? I'd hate to have to give people a new email address.
3) If I add an appointment on my iPhone, will it automatically sync with my iCalendar on my laptop?

I currently use gmail mostly for e-mail, but the syncing pictures with iPhoto is intriguing to me so people can view my pictures when I post them. So I am just wondering if I should switch to a Mobile Me account or just keep the free GMail account.

I've noticed you can get mobile me subscriptions on ebay for around 30 bucks.

thanks for any advice!

I have had a few gmail accounts and too became interested in MobileMe. For consolidations sake, I had my gmail accounts forwarded to my @me account. Due to the nature of MobileMe, the mail service is IMAP so it plays nicely with my other devices. Everything you change on any of your devices synced with your MobileMe account should sync with the system, which in turn should sync with your other devices. The change from mac to me seems to be a result of a diminishing availability of @mac accounts. Aside from the differences in suffixes, @mac and @me offer the same.

It is possible that they offer another name, but I suspect that won't be for some time.

I've tried the pictures thing, it simply allows you to view an online gallery of your pictures you let sync with MobileMe

It syncs everything.

As far as iPhoto is concerned, it's not going to be like Flickr or Picassa but it does a very good job of easily publishing photos w/ iPhoto.

The @mac.com to me.com transition was a one-time deal. Those who had mac.com accounts are still able to use them as mac.com accounts.
