iPod Cover Flow

Hey all,
Just wanna know if theres any way to set your I-pod to go by Album Artist instead of artist when in cover flow as the guest appearances kind of screw up the lists, thanks all.

I also wanna ask...I'm about to clean my whole system to hopefully make it run faster...I have movies, images, music and programs that I don't want to lose, can I just throw all these files on the Ipod as an external hard drive and throw them back on the same laptop in a couple hours? Will it be able to safely transfer all of these files as I really need them.
