iPhone Covid Tracing Apps

I just downloaded 13.5. So, I figured I would check out the tracing apps. Is there any kind of reference as to which to pick? I've seen them for Singapore, New Zealand, and Utah. On one, I can't remember which, it seemed to indicate that you had to have the same app as someone you were near for your phones to communicate. Deciding whether or not to use this feature seems is the easy part. Picking an app is my sticking point.

So can I just use a state that is upswing Apples API, or does it have to be the state I live in?

I am not 100% sure, but I think you have to use an app for your state. I have a hard time getting specific info on how this all works.

Privacy abuse concerns aside for the moment, you need an app from your state. Reporting to the app that you are, or have been diagnosed as positive, is voluntary. As such, you really can’t trust the app to be accurate. And should the app alert you to a positive person within 6 feet of you etc., it doesn’t mean said person is a carrier or actively infected. Should said person be one of those two things, that doesn’t necessarily mean you will be infected or that using such an app is a valid measure of any kind of accurate protection.

The apps are good for government tracking (who knows what other entities will have direct or indirect access) and more government control. It isn’t about personal safety.

This is correct. Here in the USA the individual states have the authority to determine public health policy not the federal government.

In some states the important decision making comes at the county; California is one of those states.

Visit your county's public health agency website for information. If they redirect you to the state public health agency then your county is not really involved in any substantial decision making.
