Sorry if this is old news to you. If it is, could you let me know if this a known issue. After brief observation I found out that CPU heat the widget and Temperature Monitor (both current versions) consistently report substantially different values when CPU temperatures rise. TM reports temperatures around 77-77.5C when at the same time CPU Heat returns 83-84C. At lower temperatures the difference is usually around 2C, CPU Heat reporting the higher value.

Thanks so much for sending me the links, and sorry I seemed to unecessary duplicate other threads.
The truth is, none of these discussions answers my question, but the problem I'm hinting at is so much discussed, I may guess that people are simply fed up with it (unless it is a real problem for them.
For the record, I also tested ThermographX together with the other two. Thermograph consistently agrees with TM, so here's the answer to my question. It also specifies 85C as the highest acceptable temperature, and the other users reported temperatures are also useful to know.
