Hi all,

first post, but I've learned way too much info for the last few weeks.

I just received this X5690 from a ebay seller, however, upon inspection, I noted that one of the feet seems to be either discolored or chipped. I seemed to recall this shouldn't affect the performance, but I would loved to hear you opinion if this is acceptable or should I contact the seller for a refund??

Thanks!!
Jon

I would contact the seller and see if they have more to do a swap. Doesn’t hurt and sets up a record that there is an issue with the CPU (assuming it wasn’t in the description or item photo) in case you have a problem.

Note that the socket is where the “pins” are so as long as solid contact is made it won’t really matter. Have you tried cleaning it off?

I'm not sure, but I think there might also be some issue with the lower-right surface mount components. Or it might be nothing. Hard to tell without a better macro picture.

thanks guys for the quick feedback!! and thanks Mango for the eagle eye! you are correct that the lower right is missing a piece!! I've requested a exchange/refund from the seller, there goes my plan to replace the cpu tonight. LOL
