CPU usage when surfing the Internet

Bought a new iMac a few months ago with a 2.4 GHz processor and 1 GB 667 MHz Memory.

It seems lately when I am on the internet it is running much slower than when I fist got it. What is normal CPU usage when you are surfing the Internet?

I believe my internet connection is okay because my kids computers are running okay.

Can anyone help?
