CPU Whine in Vista, but not in XP. Any solution?

I just installed Vista and found that the terrible whine is back!:eek:

In OS X I was able to fix it using ShhMBP, and in Windows XP (which I had previously installed) the whine wasn't present.

But now in Vista the whine is present, and it is driving me nuts, is there any way of fixing this in Vista?


And by the way: if you want Windows go XP, it is just much better, Vista is all eye-candy (but it is TOO MUCH eye-candy). XP at least is simple and elegant. I'm not completely sure if you can change the theme in Vista to look like XP, because the default is horrible, it makes my eyes hurt.
 
Yeah, they used alot of eye candy to distract users that Vista is a rebadged XP.

Other than that remark... no idea how to fix your whine =\

It's not a rebadged XP. It may not be what it was hyped up to be with the original Longhorn project, but it certainly is no rebadged XP. As to the OP's issue, I also suffer from a whine while in Vista. It doesn't always occur, however, so it hasn't bothered me enough to seek advice.

Yes at least it is not always present.


I also have been founding a lot of problems copying my music to Vista. I burned a DVD with my music, but Vista seems to be unable to read it properly. When I move the music from the DVD to the Desktop it starts transferring the files, but before it even gets to 50%, it says that an error occurred.

And we are talking of Windows here, this shouldn't be happening.
 
To me, it sounds like it's having trouble reading the data off the disc. Try to do the same task under OS X. Without knowing any more information, I'm more inclined to believe it's a bad burn or a poor-quality disc versus a problem with Windows.

If you don't like the look of Vista you can go to Control Panel, select Personalisation, Select Themes, from the drop down menu select Windows Classic.

Is the whine from the fans or the speakers?

Ummm call AppleCare... It is a documented issue and you can have it repaired now that they have acknowledged the issue.
