Cracked iMac Glass For Sale?

Hi,
I'm going to take of the glass off the imac and work without it. I feel like it would give me better clarity, and also some anti-glar qualities.

The thing is that I'm going to need the black frame around the glass to cover the screws. Also I think it would be nice to have several frames in different colors and design.

1. Is there any way to buy the black frame without the glass?
2. Where can I find dealers with cracked glass so I will cut the middle glass and leave the black frame?
3. Any other suggestions? Other "custom" iMac design projects out there?
4. How cool will my i7 27" iMac will look at the end?

I tried with mine to remove the glass centre and just use the black border on the iMac. Bought a glass cutter and everything but it proved to be a lot tougher than i gave it credit for. In the end i gave up and just left the whole thing off.

However the cutter i got was a really cheap hand tool. If you got a better one it might work. Be aware though that teh border you cut if from will be very sharp and would require some sanding down or something similar to make it smooth. Otherwise it could be some sort of Saw 3 device

Great to see that other people are going against this trend of mirror-screen.

My thinking was to buy some broken glasses, and let someone professional to cut the black frame smoothly. Then to paint over it artistically.

Just need to find someone who sells a bunch of those 27" glasses.

the screen underneath the glas is glossy too. you will only be losing the protection of glass.

It is glossy underneath but without having that extra layer of glass on top it reduces reflections and glare by more than half id say.

On top of that, if this reduction wouldn't be sufficient, I will buy the anti-glare film, witch is designed to go on the LCD screen itself, and NOT ON THE GLASS. While applying it on the glass you get poor results, but if you put it on the panel it supposed to (haven't tried myself) look awesome.
