Late 2013 Macbook Pro 13 that was in pristine condition.

My mom dropped it a few weeks ago but there was no apparent damage and its been working fine.

Today out of the blue there are vertical and horizontal lines on the edges of the screen. Bottom left corner has what looks like a crack but the glass there is still smooth to the touch.

Interesting you can still see the dock even when it's not logged in.

It's possible the screen got closed onto a crumb or something small and hard.

Does this look like a crack, or another issue with display cables?

Definitely a crack, unfortunately, that curve of line intersecting the start points of most of the lines is not something a cable/other issue could be.

Certainly a crack. For my money it wouldn’t be worth fixing on a 2013 but that’s a personal decision.

This is either image retention or screen burn-in. The dock isn't actually there on this screen. If it's image retention, it'll eventually go away if you were to leave the screen off, display a solid color, or a display non-static image for a while. However, image retention will come back if parts of the screen have been static again. If it never goes away, then it's burned in. Neither of these would have anything to do with the drop, crack, or display cable. The issue was most likely already there and you're just noticing it now. It can be common with older displays.
