I received my m1 MBA yesterday and so far I’m very happy about its performance and thermoregulation.
One thing that bothers me, however, is very small cracking sound when I close the lid every time. It’s not loud at all and just small click sound, but it’s there. Do any m1 owners experience the same issue?? I’m considering returning it and order a new one if it there’s no easy solution.

Mine makes that as well when I open it sometimes. It's a really really faint sound but I think I know what you're referring to. I'm actually already on my second laptop (first one appeared to have a bum battery) and so I think I'll stick with it and see if it goes away over time.

I did a bit of research about this issue, and this appears to have existed for many generations and the cases are not so uncommon. Mine has a very faint sound as well so I don't worry too much, but this could be a perfect macbook without this tiny issue! 🥲

Had that problem on my 2016 13" pro when opening the lid it would make a creaking noise, no issues on my M1 MacBook Pro, if it's bothering you take it back to apple and get a new one.

I have the same thing as OP - and I read it as a sound of the screen flat cable bending - in my case while opening the lid (not closing). It wasnt there out of the box - but developed after 2-3 weeks, and usually happens only when device is cold..
What keeps me confident is that Apple kept design of Air over several generations and personally I always prefer that when I buy hardware...
