Should I jump on this? I'm not going to do any big gaming (My early 2009 MacMini plays D3 so-so.), mostly working with the usual Internet crap and working through terminal to my BSD servers and I'll run a virtual of Win7 and maybe a Linux one. Never at the sametime though. I don't do any movie/picture work, minus what I take of my boys with my iPhone.

MacMini

Let me know what all of you think.

I will want to use it as a media server for sure. I know it'll handle that with no issues. I'll upgrade the ram and hard drive(s). (I'm sure I'll add a second one.)

Looks like a good deal to me as long as you want everything the seller is offering.

The deal is only decent if you want those extra things, as the poster mentioned above. If it was me, I'd wait until the new minis come out instead. Even if you are fine with the older ones, prices will then drop.

If you do want that deal, I'd try to talk him down into the <$500 range.

I'd like everything listed. Minus the camera maybe. The price would be better and woud help me save money (rather than buying new) to upgrade ram and hard drive.

He still has it but, I'm hesitant still. Maybe that is a sign to not get it.

Thanks for both of your inputs.

Also consider that a refreshed Mac Mini should be released within the next few months. Do you want the latest and greatest? It could also offer you a better bargaining position on price.

I'm not chomping at the bit to get a new one.

I currently do not need the latest and greatest. I thought about it last night, anything over 2010/2011 would be way under utilized for what I do on it.

My early 2009 MacMini is just about what I need. Minus playing D3, it does everything I need.

Does it have warranty? Newegg was selling the same mini for 469 open box but idk what the warranty is like on that.

Well it looks like that mini is gone at newegg. I would say its an ok deal if it has warranty. frys was selling it brand new for 529 and if you add the keyboard and trackpad it would be around 80-100 more but you would have warrenty which IMO would be worth it.

Then why are you getting a new one then? To use as a server? The hd3000 is barely faster or even slower in d3 than your 2009. I'd wait for the refresh and get the 2011 with discrete graphics for a discount. Then use your 2009 as the server.

Yes, it's still under warranty, that's whyI was considering it.

I figured since it's still under the first year warranty (or more/or I'll extend AC) it would be a steal, with all the extras.

I'd like a new one to have as my main home system. Very light gaming (only D3 and App Store games for the boys) and then general Internet browsing, emails, and etc. I would also like it for a HT too. I'm not sure the 09 MM would handle it as well as a current one and/or new one. I will move the 09 to my bedroom (add it to my 37" Visio) and use it for browsing, video (movies) watching and etc.
