State of Denial
I want some of what this cat is smoking.

From Denver Craigslist.com

Hi i am planning to stand in line for an apple iphone at the fort collins store. I will wait inline for you starting on thursday so you are assured a a phone. then in the morning you can come and trade the spot in line with me. I am going for the best offer. During the PS3 release people were paying over $1000. This is a device that every person would want to get their hands on. This phone is expected to sell on ebay for close to $2000. Give me an offer and i will let you know if you are the winner. You will need to get to the line approx 1-3 hours before the store opens.

How is someone going to buy an iPhone for you and sign a contract in your name to activate it? I'm pretty sure they aren't just going to go passing the things out to anyone / everyone. If you don't already have an AT&T account I would think at minimum a credit check would be required.

We'll see though....

No no, the guy waits in line till the last minute, swapping spots with you (whilst getting paid).

Basically he's sacrificing hours of his life for someone to get an iPhone, in the hopes they'll pay a premium for him to do so.

I have seen them advertised for about $250-300 depending on when you want them to stand in line....if you think of it from thier perspective, you pay them $250 and they are halfway to buying an iPhone themselves. Clever scheme...

Here's one from the Dallas CL:

For those who want to be sure to get an iPhone on June 29th, 2007 and help me pay my apt. rent: I will wait in line for you at the NorthPark Apple Store in Dallas from ~5am to ~5:30pm on June 29th. I could wait earlier outside the mall for additional $$. Payment in cash or Paypal only (I'll have my own computer, a Mac of course). Will take best $$ offer. Don't fret - I'm reliable, and have experience, even waiting 24 hrs outside in the rain to see RENT. Good luck! =)

Haven't AT&T and Apple confirmed that the iPhone will be available online? Who would pay $250 on top of the $599 for the phone?

......$849 for a PHONE. :p ...and that's before the monthly charges ensue...
