Crashing with Chrome

Ok guys, wanting to know whether anyone else has had problems with Chrome running on Mountain Lion, at least three times now i've had the system completely freeze with Chrome, i've had to hold down power to shut down the computer, then power back on. The last time I was simply browsing when an iMessage notification came on the screen, then everything froze

Are you sure the crash is due to Chrome?

1- First, make sure you are running the latest version of Chrome:

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/32956/google-chrome

2- Try disabling extensions in Chrome to see if the crash is being caused by one of them. Also try updating them, to do so go to Tools -> Extensions -> Update Extensions Now. Also check any apps you may have installed in Chrome.

I am using Chrome on two computers with Mountain Lion without problems. Hasn't crashed at any time.

Ok guys i'm bumping this thread because the problem still persists

I've even removed chrome using appcleaner, then re-downloaded it and the problem still exists, I don't use my Macbook for work so i'm not losing any important files when I have to do a hard reset but this is still extremely frustrating!

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for the problem, I seem to think its chrome because its always open when the problem occurs, but then again when i'm using the Mac i'm always using Chrome because I use the Mac to surf the net

I've even removed chrome using appcleaner,

Do it manually, those apps tend to leave stuff behind. Delete the following:

Applications Folder -> Chrome

Library Folder -> Application Support -> Google

Library Folder -> Preferences -> all files that say "com.google.Chrome"

Then download again the latest version, launch it...it should work fine.

If the problem persist I think it is safe to say it is not an issue with Chrome but something else.

Because its a fresh copy of Chrome its up to date,

Also there are no extensions,

I've checked Flash and and thats up to date also,

It might be another app causing the problem, but I use limited apps on a frequent basis. Most of the time I only have Chrome, Mail, iMessage (and less frequently iTunes) open when the crash occurs, it could be a background process cause the problem, but yeah im completely stumped

Try using Safari or Firefox for a while and see if the crashing persists.
