I love my 5.1.1. and being jailbroken. But every time I go to app store and click update I crash. It goes to safe mode. It asks for password. And installs every thing. I power off and restart and am out of safe mode so no big deal. It only crashes when I update apps. Never any other time. Just when updating apps. So not a big deal. But I don't want to restore. So since its just when updating it not worth restoring. Unless there is a way to find out why this is happening.

Most likely a tweak is the culprit. Did it happen after you grabbed something in particular from Cydia (chance are it does but you don't remember).

I'd start by going via iFile (or SSH) to where MobileSubstrate addons (daemons) are located in the filesystem and uninstalling (or disabling, I think Springtomize can do that, but don't quote me!) one by one.

From experience, when something smells fishy on a jailbroken device, chance are high MobileSubstrate addons are the culprit. Why? Well, because they are running 24/7 and "hijacking" dynamic calls and such to the iOS dynamic libraries.
Sometimes you install a MobileSubstrate addon that is supposed to be used with a couple of apps, but of course, it gets loaded with ALL of them (in this case, it could be being loaded with AppStore app and causing it to crash).

Yes springtomize can do this as well as SBSettings and iCleaner. All 3 of these packages allows you to go in and disable specific mobile substrate addons. Be careful with iCleaner though because it lists mobile substrate addons that are required. It lists addons which aren't related to any specific tweak you installed so if the name doesn't match a specific tweak you installed, don't turn it off. That's my advice.

I uninstalled winterboard, sbsettigs, poof, and sms ninja. No help.

I still have a wood folder theme however even despite removing winter board.

Still crashing.

I still have these apps installed.

Activator
Appinfo
APT 0.7 HTTPS Method
AptBackup
AskToCall
Bars
BigBoss Icon Set
Cydia Installer
Cydia Translations
Five Icon Folder
List Launcher
Mobile Substrate
Pull To Dismiss
Rocky Racoon 5.1.1...
Softwarwe Update Killer
Substrate Safe Mode
TVOut2 Mirror TVOut
WebView Controller

I know what you're thinking its the update killer. But that just hides the red circle icon so I never see it. So one of the others might be it but I don't want to uninstall every thing just too see.

Crashing

I uninstalled bars a couple days ago as it was causing Procamera to crash.

Winterboard was also causing Procamera to crash (found bars was the 'real' cause), but then was causing EE Toolkit to crash right after installing bars.

I'm disappointed as I really like bars and Winterboard. No good clues from Crash Reporter as yet.

I found the culprit. After uninstalling 'five icon folder" I was able to update all with out crashing. Not sure why that program was a problem. Bars is not crashing my camera.
