Thought you’d all like to see my replacement iPad Mini. Not only does it have the jelly scroll issue, but the display appears not to be glued down properly. Just look at those ripples! (this is with light touch). It also makes noises to go along with the ripples too! Lucky me.

I can definitely see ripples pressing it really hard on mine. Harder than normal usage. If you get this from light touching yours seems to be defective. I have seen a few reports like this now. You are not alone.

Yes from normal touching, over the entire top half of the screen. It also audibly “pops” when it’s touched too.

Yeah that is definitely the risk with getting a replacement; in theory it could end up being worse than the original, especially when the manufacturer doesn’t admit there is a problem in the first place :/

Yeah I thought about returning my Mini 6, which has a good display and no to me visible jelly effect, because of a bit loose buttons, esp power button. But otherwise it is really amazing, no problems. Display almost perfect, can't reproduce jelly, even if it is there. Good contrast display, no touch problems like here. I will keep it and use AC+ of something really happens with the buttons.

The jelly effect might be one thing, not everyone sees it. But the touch issues is definitely a hardware defect, sorry. I hope you get a good one next time or some other time in the future.

Thanks, I managed to get one from Amazon coming tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

I’m just trying to get used to using the device in landscspe mode as unfortunately the jelly scroll issue is very noticeable to me. This is a video of it in real world usage.

Individual perception is interesting. I watch that video and don't see anything that bothers me.

Same here. Just looked like a blurry mess to me.
If you look at the end of the bold text featuring the word “larger”, it is a full line above the rest of the line, I can perceive this in totally normal usage so it’s really disorienting, but clearly individual visual perception plays a big part in this.

I see it in freeze frame but in real time it just looks like normal quick scrolling to me.

Just to be clear - real world use case is NOT scrolling the display up and down multiple times a second. Last time I used my iPad and every other computer with a screen, I scroll up in normal speed as I go to the next sections.

One day they will make iPads for The Flash to keep up with his real world use case.

Try to read some of the stuff posted yesterday in several threads.

Most of us have covered real world use case situations when this situation is a drawback and regression from iPad Mini 5.

I did. "Real world use case" has been redefined as quickly scrolling up and down without slowly reading the article.

Jelly scroll is evident is most larger sized displays which is why high refresh rates are needed in more expensive displays.

I’d be very interested to know what the age demographic is with people who are perceiving and being bothered by this scrolling issue. I’m in my early 40s, I wonder if it has to do with ageing eyes…

I'm closing in on 70 and don't seem sensitive to this. (Or much of anything else except for somebody being on my lawn ...)

In most cases those videos are just proof that there's a jelly effect going on. In real life use it requires a lot less than frantically scrolling up and down for me too experience it. For example when I browse and scroll normally everything tilts.

I’m mid-20s and really near sighted, so I doubt it’s age related. I think it may be more based on how sensitive to motion sickness one gets. Like whether you can read or look at a screen in a car without feeling nausea. The stupid jelly scrolling gives me an almost identical feeling to that ?.
