I have been working on my new imac trying to get all the windows pc's networked. When i share the two printers on my windows pc, and i print from my mac, tons of pages come up that seem liek code. What am i doing wrong? Also, i have a color laser which is hooked up to ethernet, but i dont think the actual printer has mac drivers, how can i set it up to print to the ip adress? I typed in the ip adress that i check the consumables for, and it did not work.

Make sure you're using the right drivers. Be aware that those won't always be the ones that are obvious, trial and error is the best way of figuring out which is best.

would anyone know this?

jestershinra already answered your question. It isn't that you did not connect to it. If you printed garbage as you mentioned, then you are connected. The problem is getting the correct drivers for the printer on the Mac. I am also new to the Mac world and there are no drivers for the HP LaserJet 5L that I have at home. I got the same garbage when I first setup my printer and used it. I ended up having to use the HP LaserJet 4L Gimp-Print driver to get it to work.

Either your printer is not supported or you will have to use a comparable driver for the printer.
