Ok - So this is what I want to do. I'm sure this has been asked many times, I've searched and seen many different answers from years ago. I need an up to date, current how-to.

-I currently have an @gmail.com email address that is used as my Apple ID.
-I want to create an @iCloud.com email address and tie that to my Apple ID.
-I then want to close my @gmail.com account with Google.
-Use my new @iCloud.com email as my new Apple ID.

I want to do this without creating an entirely new Apple ID account. I do not want to lose my iTunes purchases, photos, or anything else associated with my current Apple ID account.

Is there a simple, seamless way to do this?

First of all, you can create an iCloud email you just have to go into iCloud and email, there you can create it. However, it’ll be added as an alias at first, and you have to then delete your gmail as your primary email and type in the iCloud email instead. Now, here comes the annoying part that I struggled with myself. It tells you it “cannot be updated during this time, try again later”. I had to wait 31 days and then it accepted my iCloud email. When setting it has your primary email, you have to do it through the web, not on iOS.
