I've been using my parents Apple ID for a while now and all my content is linked to that account. Is there a way to create my own account but still access previously purchased content tv shows, music, apps, etc. thank for the responses

It's possible but you need to log in and out to watch movies or update Apps.
That is absolutely annoying.
But as long as you can still login and your parents don't change the password, you can still access your content (associated with the matching account).
I would like to start using iCloud but for that I need my own apple ID my question is how to create a new account and have it be able to access previously purchased content from the other account.

It's possible to use different Apple IDs for different services. Use one for the bulk of the iCloud stuff and another for iTunes and Mac App Store for instance.

The two accounts retain the Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows etc, so there is no way to link both of them to the new one.
I have this issue now, I downloaded a few apps using my old id and 99% of everything using the new one, but anytime there is an update for an old app under the old id, I have to log off itunes, then log in using the old account? It is really as hastle so make sure when you create the new one you use that going forward, or you will have to access multiple accounts.
Not sure if Apple will ever fix this, but it is the only thing I hate about iTunes.
