I am trying to create a large banner in InDesign. The banner features lots of text as well as some graphics (tiffs) I'll be pulling in.

Once it is printed, the banner will be 167.25" x 47.25".

Soooo...I originally created an InDesign document that is 167.25" x 47.25", but have since realized that this may have been a mistake (Photoshop won't export tiffs at that large of a size). Should I have made the document proportionately smaller? If so, how much smaller?

Is there an easy way to scale down an InDesign document?

Maybe a better question would be "Could anyone give this novice a step-by-step walk-thru of what you would do to create a banner this size?"

I would GREATLY appreciate it -- I'm on a time crunch.

There is probably another way, but the quickest way (I find) is to change your document size to the appropriate size you need, then just select all and scale down (Object > Transform > Scale) until it's close, then tweak to fit.

I used to produce a lot of banners..
The standard way to set up large scale print is full-res at 25% scale. So all images 300dpi at 25% of final output size - that will print perfect. I would then normally send out as a PDF

I just did a banner and a billboard. The sign company recommends 1" = 1' at 300dpi. So if you have a billboard that is 12'x8' then set up your document at 12"x8" at 300dpi. They will also accept 12'x8' at 100dpi but I found this bogs down your system so just use the smaller size at 300dpi.
