Creating a "Contact Us" link

I have been reading reviews and researching the features of Freeway Express and RapidWeaver. For some reason I cannot find any info addressing the issue of creating a "Contact Us" link with either of these programs.

I am referring to a link that would take people to a page to send questions or comments through an email link.

Any comments appreciated.

Do you mean a link that opens an e-mail client and allows to you to send an e-mail to their address, or do you mean a page with a form on that sends the input to their e-mail address?

I mean a form a potential customer could fill out on my site, click send while they are viewing my site.

I have the iWeb 07 version and from what I understand I cannot do this with iWeb 07. Or I would not be looking at the other two programs. My site is going to be very basic with some photos, but mostly informational content. Eventually sell a few products.

I find it hard to believe that this version of iWeb will not allow me to set up and "check out" (for selling products) or "contact us". Am I missing something here?

If you plan to sell products I would suggest moving away from iWeb. It's very unprofessional and you really should not be using it. You won't learn anything.

There are many people well versed in said scripting languages, such as myself. I suggest you dive into it and start creating. We will help you.

Thank you for your replies and links to some useful info. I know iweb is not very professional and I am only exploring my options. That is why I have been looking at RapidWeaver and Freeway Express. I have seen some RW sites that look pretty good, but I think they were designed with the Pro Version and using some code.

I do hope sometime in the future I learn how to create a proper site but I need to get something up and running soon to get my info out there for a service business I am trying to get off the ground.

I was set to have a professional site designed until budget cuts at work and I was suddenly unemployed. Now I am looking for quick, cheap, and easy, but not so much that it makes my site look amateur.

Why is it hard to believe? iWeb is a personal web site builder, not a business or enterprise web site creator. Also, things like checkouts and a contact form require server side languages like PHP and MySQL, which will vary from web server to web server so iWeb can't just guess or anything, or magically make it work with all of them. You can find contact forms that are pre-built that just need some settings filled in (like the one mentioned in a previous post), but you won't likely be able to directly place it on a iWeb page, though you can certainly link to it once it's in place. The hard part might be trying to get that form to look like your other pages.

There are 2 versions of RW - 1 for Tiger (RW3), & 1 for Leopard (RW4). Each one functions as a demo until you buy. From their FAQ:

Q Is there a demo to try?

A Yes! RapidWeaver can be downloaded from our website and run on your Mac for as long as you like. The only limitation of the demo is that you can create a maximum of three pages per site file. Other than the three page limit, the demo is fully functional.

You can pretty much do anything you want with RW if you know how and your server supports it. Well worth looking at if you ask me.

The "I cannot believe statement" just came out of frustration, not logic. Thank you for your suggestions. I do agree iWeb should approached from a personal web page perspective.

Thank you. I think I will download the trial version of RW and take it for a spin. I am bound to learn something.
